Express 24/7 bows out amidst revenue drop

Pakistan's only 24-hour English news channel, Express 24/7, part of the Express Media Group (of which The Express Tribune is a sister organisation) bowed out on Monday night after three years of transmission. CEO Sultan Lakhani in an e-mail to 24/7 staffers said that the decision had been taken as despite the company's best efforts "we simply have not been able to make Express 24/7 self-sustaining from a financial and commercial standpoint."

Seedlings: Taking root

This year has proved to be a good year for Pakistani cinema; from Bol to Bhai Log, viewers had the chance to experience different genres. A number of other films such as RafinaWaar and Kaptaan are underway and one film that has a lot of expectation attached to it is Seedlings. The film is an initiative of the makers of Kolachi; a sci-fi film that shows Karachi's state after an apocalypse-like disaster hits the city. 

Art beyond boundaries: The Novaro touch

As you walk into the Unicorn Gallery, remarkable glass sculptures catch your eye. The glass art exhibition, which commenced on November 24, continues till December 2. Founder of Unicorn Gallery Seemah Niaz spoke passionately about Novaro's work, "The work whether it is an ashtray or a sculpture in the shape of a fish, has been made by a glass blowing technique which Novaro learned 40 years ago."
